Pluribus Season 2 is scheduled to start filming in Albuquerque, New Mexico on 31 October 2026, according to the production tracking site Production List. Apple TV has not announced the date itself, and it has not given the season a premiere date either.
What is actually confirmed
The filming date comes from a tracking site rather than from Apple or the production, so treat it as a strong signal and not a press release. It lines up with what the cast has said. It is also the same city where Season 1 was shot, and where Vince Gilligan made Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.
Rhea Seehorn gave the clearest update on 19 October 2026 at an Academy Museum event, where she told Deadline she was leaving soon to shoot. “His scripts are always the hardest thing I’ve ever done, and the best thing I’ve ever done,” she said. She also confirmed she has one script in hand: “It’s all I have, and it’s bananas.”
Apple’s own position has been consistent since the spring. The season was ordered before Season 1 had even premiered, which is the strongest vote of confidence a streamer can give a new show. Everything since then has been about time rather than doubt.
Why the gap happened
Matt Cherniss, who runs programming at Apple TV, explained the delay to Variety in July 2026. He called the season ambitious and said Gilligan was taking the time to make sure it lived up to expectations. He also called it a complicated show to execute and shoot, and said it would be tough to fit into the next production cycle. At that point the writers had early drafts.
That is a script-first delay, which is the better kind. The alternative, a show that starts shooting before the story is finished, tends to show up on screen. Game of Thrones is the standard example of the other approach, and I have argued before that its real collapse came from outrunning its source material rather than from running out of it.
The timeline, in order
| Date | What was said or announced |
|---|---|
| Before Season 1 premiered | Apple TV orders Season 2 |
| July 2026 | Matt Cherniss tells Variety the season is ambitious, complicated to shoot, and would not fit the next production cycle, with early drafts in hand |
| 19 October 2026 | Rhea Seehorn tells Deadline she is leaving soon to film and has the first script, which she calls bananas |
| 31 October 2026 | Filming scheduled to start in Albuquerque, per Production List, not confirmed by the show |
| Not announced | A premiere date |
What a 31 October start means for a premiere
Cameras rolling at the end of October puts the shoot through the winter and into spring. A show this complicated then needs a long post-production pass. I would not expect episodes before 2027, and I would treat any date in the first half of 2027 as optimistic rather than likely. That is my reading of the schedule and not a claim about Apple’s plans, because Apple has not shared any.
Season 1 went out in late 2025, so the gap between seasons will run close to two years by the time Season 2 lands. Compare it with the gap before Season 1, which was ordered, written and shot without a previous season to answer to. Season 2 is the harder one, because the first season set a bar and the audience now knows what the show is. A year between seasons is normal for a drama of this size. Two years starts to cost you the casual viewer who watched the first run and never came back.
What is still unclear
- The date itself. A Halloween start is in line with Seehorn’s comments and has not been confirmed by Apple or the producers.
- The cast. Seehorn returns as Carol Sturka. Karolina Wydra and Carlos-Manuel Vegsa are expected back as Zosia and Manousos, without a studio confirmation attached to either.
- The episode count. Nothing has been announced for Season 2, so there is no way to compare its length with the first run.
- The story. One script exists, and everyone involved has described it as ambitious. That is all anyone outside the writers’ room knows.
The date worth writing down is 31 October 2026, because it is the only fixed point in the whole schedule. CBR reported the filming start along with Seehorn’s comments, and Season 1 is streaming on Apple TV now. If you have not started it, the wait for Season 2 is the best argument for watching the first one this month.
